It dawned on me the last few days how important “focus” is. If we really want to accomplish something we got to be focused on it. While rereading this last line, its simplicity almost appears not worthy of mentioning. Many have repeated this sentence, but how many have realized what it means?
I’ve been thinking about two ways that we can look at focus.
1. Focus means concentration. By focusing on a project it begets form. Details are filled in, blanks erased. Uncertainty is exchanged for a higher percentage of success.
2. Focus is not closing your eyes. As Steve Jobs pointed out, we got to stay hungry and foolish. If we focus with our eyes closed, we will miss that one grand opportunity.
Maybe this is my wake up call to start focusing.

I need to focus to! it’s 11 now and I need to deliver the copy for our newsletter by noon. I haven’t started yet and I’m still busy reading some guy’s weblog about green living, startups and social networking

When I was reading your entry some time ago, about not setting goals or desiring to achieve, I was wondering what that would mean in my own everyday life. Because I so often experience the power of setting goals and focus, concentrate and work hard to achieve them. What do you think, is ashrama/monastary/retreat life more suitable for ‘being’ and ‘wordly’ life more for ‘doing’? And what is your idea about developing both qualities? -Lila

Let me think about that for a little bit. Sounds like a good blogpost.
