I remember reading Prabhupada’s book with the same name. And I knew. This was what I was looking for. I wasn’t going to run away from myself and be afraid of the world. I knew to become stronger and to face the world properly I would need to look inward.
As usual the world works quite differently. We find ourselves absorbed in activities we wonder how we even started them. If you know the term flow, you’ll know we are all looking for this. To be out of the moment for a while. Not to face the hardships of everyday.
But as I said I knew the hardships are just a filter, and if we take off the lens there must be deeper grounds. So self realization I was looking for. But even in the Krishna consciousness process we can loose ourselves in the philosophy, in our heads. In big ideas and to run after them. And the danger is that we become machines of ourselves, trapped within our sadhana and out of touch with our feelings. Spoken words without deeper thought. Our feelings are not subservient to our thoughts. Rationality should deepen our feelings.
So in that way we are not realizing ourselves and not applying the philosophy proper. Apply it, on your own level, not on the level of you being a great devotee. Know where you are on the map. And don’t rush in. Live with your heart but check with your head.
